What are the Benefits of Aromatherapy and Massage?

Coming home from a hard day’s work, you can often find yourself slumping down on your bed, and realize that you’re muscles are sore, tense, and in need of some serious TLC. When these days come by, why give yourself the gift of a relaxing aromatherapy massage? At Suede Salon and Spa we offer some of the best massage services and would love to help you wind down after one of those especially hard days.

What is Aromatherapy?
We’re sure you’re already quite aware of massages- but what about aromatherapy? As in the name, it’s a type of therapy that utilizes smells. Different scents like lavender have been clinically proven to promote relaxation and relieve anxiety levels. They can even help you sleep, believe it or not.

How Aromatherapy Massage Works
An aromatherapy massage works the same way as most other massages. You’ll be granted some privacy for a few minutes and once your session begins the masseuse will begin the session. The key to it, however, is that there will be essential oils diffused during the session, or your masseuse might add a couple of drops into the massage oil itself. All you have to do is relax and take in the sweet smell of whatever relaxing fragrance has been chosen for your session.

Benefits to Aromatherapy
As mentioned before there are some benefits to aromatherapy- a lot of which will cross over with the benefits of massage. Aromatherapy can help to enhance the benefits of massage, which can often consist of helping with stress and anxiety, treating pain, helping relieve some symptoms of fibromyalgia, increasing positive moods, and promoting good sleep. Aromatherapy itself can aid in digestion, reduce headaches, and when used properly can even strengthen your immune system. Different oils and smells can also treat specific things. For example, while Lavender can help treat insomnia and stress, peppermint when used right can be good for those with asthma or suffering from chronic nausea.
