7 Picture-Perfect Hairstyles for Summer

07. 15. 2021

Summer can be a great time to get out of your comfort zone and try a modern, updated hairstyle. Whether you want to try to make a subtle change with bangs, go for a short haircut, or want to try a modern version of a haircut from the past without losing your length, there are many great choices of trending haircuts this summer to inspire you. Our expert hairstylists have put together a list of some of their favorites to help give you the nudge you need.

Gotta love bangs. If you want a new look but aren’t feeling the courage to make a huge change or lose your length, bangs can be the way to go. This summer, there are so many styles of bangs “in” right now, it’s easy to find one to fit your hairstyle.

?       Curtain bangs. Parted in the center and layered to flow smoothly down each side of your head, this bang can be a soft, romantic extension of your current style. They can easily be styled or pulled back to give your current hairstyle a whole new life.

?       Choppy bangs. By layering around your face, choppy bangs are another bang style that can complement many hairstyles. This bang brings attention to your face while naturally blending into your hairstyle.

?       Asymmetric Angled bangs. This bang starts shorter on one side, gradually getting longer as they make their way to the other side. It goes well with almost any cut but when paired with a bob, it adds shape and dimension.

?       Blunt Cut bangs. Sitting right above your eyebrow, showing off a definite line between your bang and haircut, these bangs are still trending strong and are great for thicker, straight hair.

Pixie Perfect. The pixie is a timeless cut that’s versatile with a never-ending choice of lengths, layers, and crop options. Loaded with layers, you can personalize this cut to the shape of your face while leaving it longer on top, down by the ears, cropped short all over, or even ask for a trendy razor design in the back. There are many options for bangs with the pixie too – let your Suede Salon stylist help you determine which type of pixie is best for you.

A-Line Bob. If you want a shorter haircut but still want to hang on to some length, this is the cut for you. This bob haircut keeps the hair off your neck and angling to more length in the front. There’s enough length to this bob that you can wear it straight and smooth, with beach waves, or curly. It’s an easy maintenance style and can be air-dried for a natural look as you relax by the pool.

A Classic Lob. This long bob cut is well-loved for its chic, easy-to-maintain hairstyle. By keeping the length several inches before the chin, it’s a flattering style for almost any shape of the face. This season we’re seeing a lot of lobs being styles with an off-center or deep part to bring out extra volume at the roots. Wavy, curly, or straight, there’s an infinite number of ways to style this versatile cut for the look you want. Keep it wavy and natural for a romantic look, sleek and straight for a swanky look, or throw it up in a glossy ponytail or messy bun to keep it off your neck.

The Modern Shag. Whether or not you remember the shag from the 70s, this new modern shag has some definite updates. This heavily layered look is great for curly or straight hair and gives shape to both thick or thinning hair. The shorter layers are meant to perfectly frame your face and can be customized with layers of different lengths throughout the head to suit your hair texture and how edgy with the look you’d like to go.

Naturally Parted in the Center. If you’ve spent all winter growing out your hair, keep it natural and long this summer by just having the split ends trimmed to keep it healthy. By focusing on a center part, it’s easy to get a whole new look just by changing the part in your hair. If you want some bangs for a slight variation, add some long curtain bangs to your center part for a blended, soft look.

Feminine Mullet. Much different than the men’s mullet style of the 80s, this easygoing feminine version is a look we’re seeing a lot of this summer. Determine how you want to wear your mullet by choosing a soft gradual blend of layers from the front to back or embrace a more “rock and roll” mullet with more defined layers between the front and back. Add a fringe with some bangs and you’re set to show off the summer with this trending haircut. This hairstyle looks great for a formal occasion by adding volume and curl.
